As of March 20, 2003, compressed tape files containing NAICS-based State and metropolitan
area employment, hours and earnings data will be available. In comparison to the SIC-based
tape files, the NAICS-based tape files involve 1) an extension of the series ID field to 30
characters and 2) a change in the series ID. For your continued use, the historical
compressed tape files containing SIC-based State and metropolitan area employment, hours and
earnings data will remain but will no longer be updated.  To obtain format and filename
specifications for the NAICS-based State and metropolitan area employment, hours and
earnings data, please refer to the tapeformat.doc file located in this directory.  If you
